A little moisture getting in your freezer is okay right? HELP ASAP?

my freeze door wasnt shut all the way and a little moisture got in there and there is some frost is that okay

  1. It's okay that it happened, but you need to defrost the freezer.


  2. It's okay.  

    Extensive buildup can reduce the efficiency of the freezer, but I doubt you have any reason to worry.

    Actually, many new models are self-defrosting so yours might clear up. If in the meantime you want to get rid of the frost, simply unplug it, allow the frost to melt, wipe the puddle, allow to dry with door open, and re-plug in.

  3. Leaving the door open for any length of time isn't good for the freezer.  It is going to have to work a lot harder to try to maintain the temperature.  The moisture isn't really going to hurt anything, it will freeze & probably disappear during the next defrost cycle.
