Born on December 9, 1981 in the city of Edina is Mardy Fish, a professional tennis player from the United States of America. The twenty eight year old is currently ranked twenty one in the world. Fish, a silver medalist at Olympic Games is a hard court expert who is one of the few young American tennis aces that rose to prominence during the start of the twenty first century.
The Florida resident has won a total of five championships on the main ATP Tour and has also made his way into the final three Masters’ Series events namely, the Cincinnati tennis tournament back in 2003 as well as in 2010 and Indian Wells in 2008. His best result at a major championship has been his quarterfinal run at the hard court Australian Open in 2007 as well as the United States Open in 2008. He wouldn't have said anything when he was 3-0 up in the match." The next day, Mardy went on to grab the third and decisive set in a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(2) win. He met Michael Llodra in the quarters and Feliciano Lopez in the semis to make his way into the final battle. However, Fish was knocked down by his compatriot opponent Sam Querrey to end as runners up.
At the grass court Grand Slam tournament, Mardy Fish was defeated in the second round at the hands of Florian Mayer in a total of four sets. The final match score was 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. After Wimbledon, Fish contested the final grass court competition of the season, the Hall of Fame Tennis tournament that was held in Newport. He captured his career’s fourth trophy after getting the better of his Belgian opponent Olivier Rochus in a three setter final battle. As a result of this victory, his ATP men’s singles ranking improved to the top fifty ending at forty nine.
Fish next played at the Atlanta tennis tournament 2010 and went on to win another title which was his second one of the season. He toppled John Isner in the final battle to hold the title in Los Angeles. His more recent performances came at the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters tennis tournament in Cincinnati where he surpassed Gilles Simon, Fernando Verdasco, Richard Gasquet as well as Andy Murray to set up a final battle against the second ranked Roger Federer.
