A look at Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is performing very well in the 2011 Formula 1 season following his strong start.
The German joined the Red Bull team in 2009, where he showed his impressive performance by finishing his season in the second place with 84 points.
He was the 2010 Formula 1 season’s world champion. Vettel took part in 19 races and won 5 rounds out of them in 2010.
The team driver had a great time in the 2011 pre-season test session, where he learnt about the different features of his new RB7 car and tested the various compounds of Pirelli tyres.
Vettel took a very strong start in the ongoing season, as he won his first race of this season in the first round at the Australian Grand Prix.
The German secured a pole place in Qualifiers at the Albert Park racetrack and set the fastest time on the Australian race weekend’s result sheets.
After the Australian Grand Prix success, Vettel retained his position in the next 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix, where he again started his race from the pole position on the grid and ended up at the top place for the team.
The current world champion could not dominate the Chinese Grand Prix, as McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was faster as compared to him at the Shanghai International racetrack.
After struggling a lot on the 2011 new Pirelli tyres, Vettel finished his Chinese GP at the second place ahead of his teammate Mark Webber, who was at the third place in Shanghai.
The race results were very disappointing for the Red Bull Racing team, as they expected another race victory from Vettel in China.
Despite his Chinese race weekend results, Vettel really worked hard during the next Turkish Grand Prix, where he came back to his winning ways and achieved his third win of the ongoing season over there.
The Spanish Grand Prix proved as lucky for Red Bull driver, as he again posted a fastest time on the results sheets in the ongoing season after running at the Circuit de Catalunya.
He took his fifth race victory of this season at the Monaco Grand Prix. He started his race from the front row on the grid and after struggling on the sets of supersoft and soft compounds by Pirelli, he ended up at the top place ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando
Alonso.
The 2010 world champion struggled in wet conditions during the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. McLaren driver Jenson Button was faster as compared to Vettel at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and won the Grand Prix after putting all of his efforts during the race.
He bounced back on the grid in the European Grand Prix, where he secured his sixth race victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season after a fight with Alonso in the closing laps.
Vettel dropped down from his top position in the British Grand Prix, because Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso made a lot of struggle on the sets of soft and medium tyres and won the race in the end.
The German Grand Prix was very disappointing for the team, as their driver Vettel was unable to finish his race on the podium. After starting from the third place on the opening grid, Vettel finished his German race at the fourth place behind his teammate
Webber.
In the Hungarian Grand Prix, the world champion bounced back on the podium and finished his race in the second spot behind Button, who was the winner of the Budapest race.
The RBR driver seemed to be in a very competitive form from the start of the season. He took a very strong start in the ongoing season and holds the lead in the 2011 championship battle as well.
After winning six race victories, Vettel is being tipped to win this year’s title.
Let’s see how he performs in the rest of the season following his disappointing last couple of races.
