A look at Volleyball development in Nepal
The South-Asian country, Nepal is up with some healthy development work and promotion of volleyball in the region.
The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) is the governing authority, which has been working in the country for many years. Every now and then, the NVA organises different activities to create awareness about the challenging sport of volleyball.
In this regard, the Nepal Volleyball Association has acquired full support and cooperation of Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB).
In the recent memory, the NVA launched a Volleyball Cooperation Program for Teachers in collaboration with FIVB. The activity was formally kicked off on last Wednesday. It was a training course, which was solely dedicated to provide support to the local
volleyball teachers. A total of 31 participants attended the program, which spanned over five-days. The participants of the program included volleyball teachers of different schools, coaches of local clubs and some university graduates. The Volleyball Cooperation
Program was supervised by Mr. Zhao Shanwen of China. He was sent by the International Volleyball Federation as an official instructor at the program.
The Chinese instructor clearly stated the objective of the course and urged the participant to take full advantage of this vital opportunity. He offered his services to the participants of the course and answered many of their questions and queries.
The President of Nepalese Volleyball Association, Mr. Ganga Bahadu Magar was also there at the training course. Together with FIVB instructor, he discussed the prospects of volleyball in Nepal with the participants of the program. The course participants
took part in discussion and came up with their opinions about how to promote the game in region.
The participants were offered to learn about the up-to-date rules and regulations of the game. They received training from the FIVB instructor related to the good governance of matches. The Nepalese Medial also took part in the activity. They covered the
event and frequently released the news on national TV channel. It was a good effort to create awareness among masses.
The five-day course ended with the final ceremony on Wednesday. The closing ceremony was attended by Minister of Sports of Nepal and many other top officials of sports ministry. They appreciated the development work done by NVA.
Alongside Volleyball Cooperation Program, the Nepal Volleyball Association organised a special Youth Volleyball festival was also organised.
