A look at the 19th Hole Tournament Player Club in San Antonio - Part 1
Valero Texas Open is the next stop on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour, which will take place at the 19th Hole Tournament Player Club in San Antonio. The event has total purse of $6,200,000 along with 500 FedEx points.
Here is a quick look at the course.
Hole #1
The first hole of the front nine stretches on 454 yards. The landing area for the tee shot is clear, which means it is open for attacks. However, the fairway turns dogleg left, with trees and bushes on the same side. The long hitters have an advantage of
taking the risk of keeping the ball on the left, but make sure the ball does not roll into the ridge on the left, as it will be tough recovering the shot. The green is flat in the centre, slopped on all the sides and has a bunker on the left side.
Hole #2
This is the first par-5 hole of the course, which stretches on 602 yards. Despite having long yards to cover, the hole is an easy birdie opportunity. Avoid the fairway bunkers, situated on the landing area for the first shot.
Secondly, keep the ball in the centre, when hitting an iron on the fairway, as a thick jungle waits on the left side. The green is wide enough to dribble the ball, but make sure the ball stays in the centre, as there are hospitability units on both the sides.
Hole #3
The third hole is the first of the par-3s, but is one scenic hole, whose beauty will mesmerize the player for quite some time. There is a huge pond between the tee and the green, which is full of surprises. Aim the s**t with a 3-wood for accuracy, as it
is one thing that is required more than the distance covered. The green is undulating, with a sand trap on the right and a tough chipping area on the left.
 Hole #4
The fourth hole is a par-4 that stretches on 481 yards, which makes it the longest. Try keeping the tee shot close, as the longer the shot, the narrower the landing area gets. The fairway is bunkered on both sides, hence, it is better to keep the ball in
the centre. Meanwhile, the green is open for attack and can be birdied, provided the putter favours the player.
Hole #5
The fifth hole is the shortest par-4 hole on the course, as it stretches on 342 yards. Try avoiding reaching the green in one short, although it is possible, as the landing area is crowded with bunkers. Instead, play the ball with a draw,
so that the ball plunges towards the left avoiding the right side, which has a deep gorge.
