A look at the 20 top players in the world of Golf today: Adam Scott
An Australian with flair style and a winning knack for big golf tournaments, the 31 year old Adam Scott is a professional Golfer and a part time model.
He enrolled in the Southport School, Koorablyn International School. After he completed his high school education, he went on to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas, although only briefly.
Adam Scott’s professional career started in 2001 and in the same year he won the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship. In 2004 he won more PGA tours and also the Players Championship and the Booz Allen Classic. Adam also reached the top ten of the
official World Golf Rankings for the first time after winning the Nissan Open.
Adam Scott is also considered to be a natural successor to the fellow countryman and a golfing great Greg Norman. He hired Greg Norman’s caddy as his own in 2004, which shows that he not only wants to emulate the success of the fellow countryman but also
wants to fill his shoes. He has not fared badly in that attempt either by spending over 180 weeks in the top 10 of the rankings.
Scott won the Tour Championship and finished third on the PGA Tour Money List. Although Scott now focuses mainly on the PGA tours but still continues to play all over the Globe. He played enough European Tours to qualify to play for the Order of Merit for
the first time since 2005.
Adam Scott also paired with Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods in 2008 at the U.S. Open , Woods went on to win the Tournament, while Mickelson and Scott finished 18th and 26th respectively. Scott's form dipped in 2009 when he dropped out of the top 50 in the world
rankings and the top 100 of the PGA Tour money list.
He didn’t have much to show for a couple of years but still managed to win his seventh career PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open.Scott has also been the ladies choice, and has maintained and accentuated his image though a portfolio of high end endorsement
deals with brands such as Burberry. This led him to be named in the Esquire’s best dressed list.
In the year 2011 Scott performed his best at a major championship, when he finished in a tie for second place at the 2011 Masters Tournament. He was only 2 strokes behind Charl Schwartzel.
At one point while playing the 71st hole Scott was in the lead of the tournament, but Schwartzel pulled off four birdies in a row and that meant Scott was left behind narrowly. Although Scott remained positive and mentioned that he took only the positives
out of the Tournament and that he felt that he had never played better with a long putter.
“Things are going to explode when he wins a major,” says Ryan. Scott is used to hearing such talk, and he has made peace with the accompanying expectations. “I'm ready for all that,” he says. “At least I think I am.”
Scott can become a great player a truly global player who competes in Asia, Australia, Europe and the U.S. and can achieve stardom, as long as he can deliver on the teeing green.
