A look at the Castle Stuart Golf Links Golf Course – Part 2
Hole#5
This par-4 layout requires accuracy and a bit of experience to card a birdie or better. The setup is a challenge for the long hitters, as the fairway narrows down towards the end and even difficult for the short hitters, owing to the long dogleg fairway.
However, approach the green from the left side, as it will shorten the distance, but beware of the bunker that sits few inches away from the cup.
Hole#6
This 560-yard par-5 is one of the toughest holes on the course. The fairway is undulating, while the green is treacherous and inviting, but protected on both the sides. Aim a tee shot towards the centre of the fairway, as two huge bunkers sit on both the
sides. For the long hitters, it is advised to plan the shot keeping in view the small sand unit that lies at a distance of 411 yards from the tee. The green is narrow and long, but gives one an opportunity to invade it with accurate scrambling.
Hole#7
This par-4 lies on 461 yards. Approaching the green in two shots is a crucial task here, because of the severe turns on the fairway. The fairway turns dogleg right and then left, which ultimately tests the skill of the player under pressure. The ideal approach
to reach the green safely is by keeping the ball on the left side and attacking the green with a fairway wood to work against the wind. The flag is placed towards the left side, which has a bunker. Meanwhile, the right side of the green is severely flaunting.
Hole#8
This is the fourth par-3 hole on the front nine. The punchbowl shaped green is covered with trees on the back which serve as the reason behind the deflection of the shot. Use a short iron to hit the Green in Regulation, but make sure that the ball lands
on the left or the front oval of the green, as it will make the process easier. Another spot to avoid is the mound in the centre of the green, which will roll the ball either into the bunkers or onto the rough.
Hole#9
This is the last par-4 on the front nine. The green is strategically located on the left side of the course with water on the right. Target the left side of the fairway and wedge the second shot all the way to the back of the green, which has the pin placed
on a crucial point.
