A look at the Colonial Country Club – Part 2
Hole #7
The second last hole at the front is a par-4 layout. The landing area for the first shot is clear, which means, you can try all kind of swings on the tee without getting into trouble. But beware of the greenside bunkers that have a legacy of the most bogeys
scored. Play the second more aggressively and it will pay off.
Hole# 8
This par-3 is the shortest of all the par 3s, as it stretches on 94 yards, but is one of the trickiest. Club selection plays the most crucial role, since that is the only tool which will help in signing for a par. The green is three-tiered and wind blows
from all sides, making it difficult to predict the landing area of the shot.
Hole #9
This par-4 stretches to 407 yards and the only trick to reach the green safely is by aiming the shot towards the centre of the fairway and the green. Beware of the huge bunker sitting on the foot of the green.
Hole #10
This is the first hole on the back nine and is a gift for players with an excellent long game. The fairway is open, which often leads the players in taking shots towards the farthest corner, but avoid it, as the green gets narrower, as you approach it with
a long stride.
Hole #11
This par-5 stretches to 635 yards, which means it is the longest hole on the course. However, it is approachable with a straight tee-shot and a second shot aimed towards the left side. Watch out for the hospitality unit sitting on the left side of the fairway.
It is famous for ruining the scorecards. The green is completely bunkered, but a chip shot from the right lie can catch a birdie or even an eagle in some cases.
Hole #12
This 445-yard hole is officially the hardest hole on the back nine. The fairway turns dogleg left with a bunker on the same side. The green is elevated and the wind normally blows towards the north, making putting extremely difficult.
Hole #13
This par-3 lies on 190 yards with bunkered green and a creek on the foot of the green. Approach the green with a wedge and it will help in keeping the scorecard free of trouble.
Hole #14
This par-4 lies on 464 yards, which makes it the longest par-4. It has a dogleg left that requires a player to draw off from the tee and hit a long approach shot towards the green. The green is severely bunkered.
