A look at the Round one of James J Patton Silver Cup at Orange Park kennel Club
The round one of James J Patton Silver Cup last Friday was a mix of highs and lows.
Greyhounds Really Xtreme and Paddy Whacker were the stars of at the night in the Round 1 of James J Patton Silver Cup.
Both of them are top notch players of this sport nowadays and they lived up to their name and expectations in the race they competed in.
The tenth race was a nail biting experience filled with thrill and the credit of this goes to greyhound Really Xtreme’s power packed performance.
He had a lazy start but somewhere around the first bend, his trademark swiftness took form. After that Really Xtreme did not look back and charged all the way to the finish line.
Paddy Whacker turned the twelfth race into a complete thriller with the crowd cheering him on their feet.
He had a swift start and took the lead of the race right from the beginning. Paddy Whacker did not let any contender within an arms length of him.
It was clear that this was going to be a one dog race and this assumption was proved right when Paddy Whacker crossed the finish line four lengths ahead of the runner up.
The substantial margin between the winner and the runner-up alone atones for the fact that Paddy Whacker was way ahead of the rest of the contender’s league.
Greyhound Kiowa Jill Vik emerged victorious in the second race of round one.
A good deal of wagers had been placed on her victory and fortunately for the bettor Kiowa Jill Vik proved them right.
She had trouble getting the lead of the race in the beginning but towards the end she managed to get past the crowd and be the first greyhound to cross the wire.
Greyhound Tmc's Bestofshow surprised everyone by winning the fourteenth race as no wagers had been placed on her expected victory.
She broke into a swift run right of her trap and only took it slow once she was the first greyhound to cross the finish line.
The seventh race was an all out war between greyhounds Touch My Hand and Lk's Energizing.
Greyhound Touch My hand took the lead of the race right from the start of the race but somewhere in the middle Lk's Energizing levelled with him.
After that it was a cat and mouse chase between the two contenders with one greyhound taking the lead and the other snatching it from him over and over again.
Unfortunately Lk's Energizing’s efforts were fruitless as he was unable to take the victory despite the hard fight he put up.
It was a night filled with excitement and anticipation and the results of round I have built of expectations of wagers and trainers for the upcoming Round II of James J Patton Silver Cup.
