A look at the Tournament Player Club Sawgrass – Part 2
Hole #4
The fourth hole on the front stretches on 384 yards. The hole requires accuracy on every shot. The short hitters need to consider the small creek that runs between the tee-box and the fairway. While aiming for the shot, make sure that the ball does not land
on the foot of the fairway, as it would roll the ball into the bunker.
As for the long hitters, make sure the ball lands on the left, but at a distance from the rough, which is a slope. Target the second shot onto the small patch of the fairway located on the left side, as it leaves the player standing on an ideal spot to aim
for the cup.
The green is completely bunkered; it has water on the front, bunkers on the back and trees on the right. Looking at the description, one has to think of a foolproof plan to birdie the green.
Hole #5
The fifth hole stretches on 471 yards, which makes it the longest par-4 on the course. Like all the previous holes, this one too has water, trees and bunkers in the view. The landing area for the tee shot is situated on the left, which slopes back into a
huge bunker on the left and water on the right.
Use a driver on this hole, as it would help in covering the long teeing area. Plan the second shot onto the right side of the fairway, but keep a fair distance between the ball and the water. Chances are that the ball will slide back, as the area is extremely
slopped.
Target the green with a mid iron and make sure the backside of the green turns out to be the putting area.
Hole #6
This par-4 stretches on 393 yards and is an ideal example of target golf, with trees and bunkers located in the way of each shot. Once again, water comes between the teeing area and the fairway. Trees surround the fairway, to add that extra difficulty for
players reaching out for a par.
To avoid trouble, do not use a driver on this hole, as wind will create a major resistance for the players. The smart choice would be to pick a hybrid. The ideal approach to reach the green is by targeting the centre of the green, which is undulating and
by trees on all the sides.
