A look at the performance of Sebastian Vettel before joining Red Bull Racing
Sebastian Vettel is the current world champion in Formula 1 and is driving for Red Bull Racing in the 2011 season.
Sebastian Vettel joined Red Bull team in 2009. He was the youngest Formula 1 driver, who secured the pole position very early in his career.
In 2010, he helped his current team to win the constructor’s championship along with his teammate, Mark Webber.
Vettel started off in Karting in 1995. He has won a lot of titles including The Junior Monaco Kart Cup. Sebastian dominated the 2004 Formula BMW ADAC by winning 18 rounds out of 20.
Vettel is the youngest driver yet, to drive at the Grand Prix meeting. His official entry in Formula 1 Racing was as the 3rd driver in 2006 at the Turkish Grand Prix for the BMW Sauber Team although he had done his first Formula 1 test race in
2005.
The German impressed the BMW F1 team by driving strongly on the grid in the Friday Free Practice sessions and after that, he was confirmed as a test driver of the BMW team for the 2007 Formula 1 season.
He made his debut in Formula 1 at the Indianapolis circuit in 2007 for the BMW Sauber team.
Robert Kubica, who was the BMW race driver in 2007 F1 season had a very serious accident before the United Stated Grand Prix. However, Vettel was selected in place of Kubica for the US race and successfully scored six points for the team.
Other than that, Sebastian also competed in the World Series for Renault in 2007 and had his first win at Nurburgring at that time.
Later that year, Vettel joined the Scuderia-Toro Rosso team by replacing the American Driver, Scott Speed. He partnered Sebestian Bourdais in 2008. The team driver made a lot of struggle during his first few races and managed to come at the eighth place
for STR in the end of 2008. After four races of the 2008 session, he was the only driver, who failed to finish a single race due to engine failure.
In the 2008Bahrain Grand Prix, Sebastian finished 16th while his team-mate Webber finished 2nd following Rubens Barrichello.
At the 2008 Italian Grand Prix, he became the youngest driver in sport’s history to win a grand prix by beating the record set by Fernando Alonso.
By the end of 2008, and after the retirement of David Coulthard at Red Bull Racing, Vettel was recruited into the Red Bull Racing team. He was accompanied by Australian driver Mark Webber.
Year 2009 was a life-changing year for the young Vettel. He finished his race at the 16th place in the Brazilian Grand Prix and also won the 2009 DHL fastest lap. Vettel continued racing for the Red Bull Racing in year 2010 and finished first pole position
at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
He had a great time with Red Bull Racing throughout the 2009 F1 season. Vettel took part in the 17 races and after struggling for his best finish in the season, he ended up at the second place with 84 points in the championship battle.
