A look at the profile of 2012 Sprint Cup Champion and NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski – NASCAR Special
Bradley Aaron Keselowski or more commonly known as Brad Keselowski was at the apex of his National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) career in the last season.
His sponsor Miller Lite, and his car owner Roger Penske (Owner of Penske Racing) got their money’s worth when Keselowski won the Sprint Cup Series in the 2012 NASCAR season.
Keselowski scored his final win of the series on Sep. 30, 2012 racing at the Dover International Speedway. The victory at Dover was the 5th win of the series for the 28-year-old Michigan driver. Keselowski’s win at Talladega (the Aaron’s 499) was the first
one for Dodge since 1976. He rounded up the Sprint Cup with 13 standings in the top 5s, 23 standings in the top 10s and currently has a total of 9 wins to his name in his Sprint Cup career. Keselowski's win in AAA 400 was the last win for Dodge because they
are not going to participate in NASCAR's top 3 divisions in 2013.
During 2012, Keselowski not only won the Sprint Cup but also raced for Penske Racing in a limited Nationwide Series schedule and not to forget a few Camping World Truck Series races in which he competed for his own team, Brad Keselowski Racing.
In the Sprint Cup of 2011, Keselowski ended up 5th on the grid with a total of 2319 points, a huge improvement than last year, which was also a career best for him back then. In the 20th race of the tournament, Brickyard 400, he suffered a severe accident
which cost Keselowski a broken ankle and the race as well. Miraculously, in the very next race, Good Sam RV Insurance 500, Keselowski was able to clinch a victory showing his racing aptitude to the world. In the upcoming three races of the tournament, Keselowski
ended up 2nd, 3rd and 1st position respectively. His victory in Irwin Tools Night Race was his third that season in the Sprint Cup. And this was the win which ensured Keselowski a spot in the 2011 Chase for the Spirit Cup. During the same year, he also had
5 NASCAR Nationwide series victories to his name.
2010 marked the beginning of Penske years for Keselowski. He was the Nationwide Series Champion in 2010. Out of a total of 35 races, he ended up in the top 5s 26 times which is a record. He also participated in the Sprint Cup and was able to end 25th in
series points. Although Keselowski could not win any Sprint Cup race that season but still got his first pole of the career in Sylvania 300.
From 2008 to 2010, for three successive years, Keselowski held the title of NASCAR Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver. It was in 2008 that the first Nationwide Series win came for him when he won the Federated Auto Parts 300 (Nashville). In 2009, first
victory in a Sprint Cup race materialised for Keselowski in Talladega.
In his Nationwide Series career, Keselowski holds 1 championship title (2010), 20 race victories and 13 poles. In his Sprint Cup career, he holds 1 championship title (2012), 9 race victories and 2 poles.
A NASCAR career that started from Craftsman Truck Series in 2004 has led Keselowski to be the NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion in 2012. Only time will tell us what glory awaits the talented racer.
