A look at the profile of Formula 1 team, Scuderia Toro Rosso – Part 2
Since Toro Rosso became a part of Formula 1 back in 2006, the team has been performing really well as they have been improving their performance each year and now they are considered as one of the mid-running teams of the sport.
Toro Rosso is a part of Red Bull Racing as well and it is considered as its junior team. However, the team is working pretty much on its own and it has produced a driver like Sebastian Vettel who secured a race win back in 2008 using an average Toro Rosso
car.
After that performance, he signed with Red Bull Racing as their race driver and now he is driving for the team quite actively. He secured the world championship in 2010 and helped RBR in securing the constructors’ title as well.
Nevertheless, Toro Rosso did not come to an end after that obviously and now they are still performing quite competitively. The team gave its best performance in 2008 as they secured the 6th place with the help of 39 points but
even now, they are looking very competitive as they are still performing consistently.
After Vettel departed from the team, the team decided to sign Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi. Since then, both of these drivers have been a part of the team and it seems that they have been giving some pretty decent performances.
The team finished in 10th place with just 8 points in 2009 and this was quite disappointing for Toro Rosso. But one has to admit that after changing both of its drivers and since the rules changed a lot in 2009, this was bound to
happen.
The team did not retain its pace and in 2009, even teams like Ferrari and McLaren were unable to perform up to their expectations in the beginning as a result of which this was expected from the mid-running teams as well.
Nevertheless, RBR scored the 2nd place in the constructors’ standings that year and after that, Toro Rosso finished in 9th place in the constructors’ standings in the 2010 Formula 1 season.
This was again quite disappointing for Toro Rosso as they finished ahead of the three new coming teams Team Lotus, Hispania Racing Team and Virgin Racing Team only which was quite disappointing for them since they were looking much better than teams like
Sauber at first during the 2008 Formula 1 season.
Either way, one has to admit that this is how Formula 1 is and we can expect anything from any team and performing consistently and reliably is the main thing for each team. Toro Rosso have proved that they are consistent and it is a learning ground for
young drivers.
Toro Rosso is just like Sauber as both of these teams produce some pretty good drivers in the sport and these sorts of mid-running teams are quite essential for the sport. Without these teams, world champions like Sebastian Vettel are never introduced to
the sport and since they grow quite stably and progressively, expecting the best of results from these teams is quite natural. These teams have the ability to make some major upsets as well.
In 2011, the team is looking pretty good as they are scoring points consistently now and are looking quite competitive.
