A look back at the winning performances of Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry in NBA Finals - Part-1
Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry carried the action tremendously for his team in NBA Finals against the Miami Heat and powered them to their first ever championship title. Terry had a major impact on the opposition with his electrifying
performances, especially down the stretch, as he provided a substantial support throughout the series to complement the performances of Dirk Nowitzki.
Over the years, the 33 year old veteran guard has earned the reputation of a prolific finisher and he lived upto his potential in the Finals.
Jason was part of the Mavs when they reached the NBA Finals in 2006. However, Miami Heat eliminated them in game-6 of the NBA Finals. Fuelled with the determination to payback and land the championship title, Terry carried the
action with Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, Shaun Marion and J.J. Barea and returned the favour by thrashing Miami in the game-6 of the Finals this year.
Terry took his game into the next level in the play-offs. Here is an overview on Jason’s winning performances in the NBA Finals.
Game 2: Dallas Mavericks 95 – Miami Heat 93
Playing at the American Airlines Arena, the Dallas Mavericks became the first team in the post season to outshine the mighty Miami Heat on their home-court. The reserve guard erupted with 16 points and dished out 5 assists to place
the Mavericks on the frontline.
Dallas was trailing by 15 points in the fourth quarter with less than seven minutes remaining in the final buzzer. Terry initiated the scoring rampage in the crunch time with back to back jump shots and then followed with a three
point play to set the tone for one of the most vociferous fourth quarter comebacks in the Finals history. The German sharp-shooter took care of the rest to inflict a startling melt down on the home team.
"You can just sense it in us that we weren't going to give up, we were going to be resilient," Jason said after the game. Terry smashed the Heat with 8 points of his 16 in the finals 12 minutes as the Mavericks managed to tie the
series 1-1
He was spot on from the charity stripe and buried six free throws in as many attempts. Jason not only stimulated the offensive system of the team in the fourth quarter and initiated the fight back that eventually turned the course
of the series, he out manoeuvred LeBron James to take control down the stretch.
