A look into Thursday's Shelbourne Park's £1000 A2 Finals
Shelbourne Park will host the £1000 Shelbourne A2 Final over 525 yards and the £1000 Shelbourne A2 Final over 550 yards tomorrow evening.
Shelbourne A2 Final over 525y
Racing from the first trap in the 525 final is Tyrur Manuel, who looked good in his semi-final last week, beating Springwood Fame by 2 lengths. Manuel was the 5-2 race favourite and showed he deserved it by making a late charge after a slow start to move from fourth to first.
Droopys Roz finished third in her semi-final last week after losing second place to Oneco Ace at the midway point of the race. She will be racing from the second trap.
When Springwood Fame lost the lead to Manuel last week he didn’t just lose the lead, he dropped all the way back to fourth place and was at risk of missing the final until a late surge pushed him into second place. It will be hard for Fame to repeat a comeback like that facing a tougher field, and after drawing the third trap.
In the fourth trap is the other semi-final winner, Giveittobuds, who looked flawless last week getting off to a great start and an early lead before cruising to victory over Oneco Ace. Giveittobuds should be the race favourite in this one, but don’t count out Ace, who will be looking forward to the rematch.
Maybeiwill will be coming out of the fifth trap. He looked decent last week, recovering from a poor start to take third place, but don’t expect a similar comeback in the final.
In the sixth trap is Oneco Ace, who after finishing sixth in his last two A1 races, has moved back to the A2 races. Ace clocked the second best time of the semi-finals behind Giveittobuds. Expect these two hounds to be battling for first place in the final.
Shelbourne A2 Final over 550y
The 550 Final will see Triangle Lucca race from the first trap. Lucca dominated in his semi-final, winning it over Tyrur Domingo by 3 ½ lengths, with a time of 30.05, the best time of the semi-finals.
Lucca will face a tougher challenge with Win Something, looking to win from the second trap. Something’s semi-final had a closer finish than Lucca’s, but she looked just as dominant. Expect these two finish in the top two spots.
Off Your Rocker will start from the third trap, and you’ll have to be just that to expect him to win, but he could make money for punters betting on him to show.
In the fifth trap is Tyrur Domingo, who has not been racing well. Domingo was disappointing in the races leading up to last week’s semi-final, and in the semi-final itself he looked unsteady moving from fourth to sixth before pushing his way into second.
Cool Biko rounds out the field from the sixth trap. Biko held third with little difficulty last week, but will have to improve his start if he wants to place higher tomorrow.
