A lot of Questions follow Commissioner Gary Bettman's Brief Speech -NHL Lockout Update
It has been less than 24 hours after players and National Hockey League (NHL) team owners met for the first time ever since the lockout came into play earlier in September, but a lot of questions need to be answered as Commissioner Gary Bettman, surprisingly,
spoke only for a minute or two without answering anything.
The level of hope and optimism has obviously reached new highs after the two stakeholders met on Tuesday and underwent an eight-hour long meeting just to discuss how they could bring an end to the lockout, but nothing official has been released in that regard
just yet. Sources claim that the meeting went very well, but until and unless details are made public, mystery will continue to surround the topic.
"We are pleased with the process that is ongoing and out of respect for that process I don't have anything else to say and I'm not going to take any questions," Commissioner Bettman said, while briefing the media the next day following the Board of Governors
meeting.
It is believed that the league and NHL Players’ Association continued meetings of their own under the leadership of Gary Bettman and executive director Donald Fehr, respectively, but confusion is still abound due to the fact no agenda was released and details
are yet to be made public in that regard.
Commissioner Bettman briefed the media on how Tuesday night’s meeting went between players and franchise owners, while he is still to tell the media what the outcome was and when fans could expect a regular season to finally kick off.
It has now almost been three months since work stoppage hit the North American hockey league, and after numerous attempts to bring about a change and appeal to either side, the league and Players’ Association thought it would be best to bring owners and
players face-to-face.
Fans are hopeful that there will not be any further cancellations as the 2012-2013 regular season is still on for games post the December 14th date, but the 2013 NHL Winter Classic and All-Star Game are still under the axe, but according to some
insiders, just may be revived if both sides manage to work something out in the next few days.
