A lot of White Sox fans think it will be a Cubs/White Sox World Series...?

how do the White Sox intend on beating the Angels or Red Sox though? Honestly with how the Twins and White Sox have been playing I don't think it'll be long before the Twins take over that spot. Not to mention the Tigers have been pretty hot as well and they can easily hop into the picture in the next 2 months. I'm also not handing the Cubs a ticket to the World Series just yet either, I just say this because I think there are far tougher teams in the AL.

  1. 1) Winning 2 games against the Brewers does not hand you the division yet.

    2) I know no fellow Sox fans saying this - the Cubs have not proven they can get there. So we bank on playing someone other than the Cubs.

    3) How will the Sox get there - the same way they did in 2005 - by beating Boston and L.A.. It is that simple.

  2. 1- The Red Sox are over rated. If you look at them as someone without bias, then you see an aging team that has been mediocre in the last few months.  I would say that the White Sox and Red Sox are basically the same.

2- The Tigers just got beat at home by the White Sox.  The Tigers are not for real.

3- The Twinks are not going to be in first for long if at all.  So what, the White Sox are bad in a dome, who cares?  The Twinks are not good enough to win the division.  The Twink bull pen at home is ranked number 1, away it is ranked 30.  Heard that on WSCR The Score 670 AM.  They are an average team.

The only team that really matters in the AL is the Angels.  That is why I am now 90% sure it is going to be an Angels Cubs World Series with the Cubs beating the tar out of the Angels because the Cubs have offense and the Angels do not.

I have more faith in your team than you do and I understand what the White Sox are.  An aging team that is inconsistent.

  3. 2005........ALDS

White Sox sweep the Red Sox!! Move on to the ALCS.....

White Sox win in 5 vs. the Angels......

    Those teams sound familiar?

But it's 2008 now. Let me give you some facts now.

The WHite Sox have 57 games left in the regular season.

29 are at home. 28 are away. The Sox away record is 24-30 and the home record is 35-16.

The Twinkies have 56 games left. 26 are at home. 30 are away. The Twins record at home is 36-19. Their record away is 23-28. Most of the Twins September is road games, including 3 at The Cell is the last week. That could come into play in the end.

What do the Tigers have in this??? How can they "easily hop" into the picture. I can't see them winning with the terrible pitching and all of that. They also have had a history of being bad against the White Sox EVEN LAST YEAR, when they were far better! The Tigers have 6 game sleft against the Sox, all at The Cell. I am not saying they are out, but the pitching can't do anything.

I think it will be a showdown in the AL Central vs. the White Sox and Twins.

So now, if the White Sox are in the playoffs, they have to get through the Red Sox and Angels. Whichever team the yplay, they can win! The Angels and Red Sox could both hit a slump in the season and coming into the playoffs, be a cold team. Same with the White Sox, but it could affect another team more than another. ALso, when the playoffs begin, it's a whole new ballgame, everyone is 0-0, it all starts over at a series. So any team, once in the playoffs, has a pretty equal chance at winning. Maybe one team could struggle in a series.

Try not to think that just because a team is better, they will definately win a playoff series. It almost never goes that way all of the time.

And don't worry, I have seen many Cubs fans propose this series, not just Sox fans like you say.

  4. It would be a long shot if these 2 teams face themselves in the World Series.  First of all, the Cubs always choke, so I very much doubt they will make it out of the first round and 2nd there are at least 3 teams in the AL that are better than the Sox. Won't happen.

  5. The best teams do not always make (or win) the World Series. Anything can happen once the playoffs start: mediocre players can get hot (as Al Weis did in '69) while star players can go ice-cold (ain't that right, ARod?).

So the White Sox do have a chance of making it a freeway series against the Cubs.

  6. I agree with those that say that a Cub/White Sox world series is more wishful thinking than anything else.

  7. I don't think it will be a Cubs/White Sox World Series I think it will be a Cubs/Yankees World Series

  8. To insane..tell me that When Minnesota was the first team to reach 30 wins against a Division...the AL Central

  9. Angel vs Cubs series has highest probabilty. Brewers are coming up strong though. If somehow they can catch Cubs by the end of the season. Then Angel vs Brewers WS. (Curse did it again to the Cubs if that happened).

  10. I'm sure a lot of people were asking that same question back in 2005.  The White Sox have one of the most feared lineups in baseball.  Look at the power they have sitting in the 3-6 slots...it's crazy.  The Twins have been playing great ball, but the Sox have been sitting in first for 100 days now...if they fall to the Twins, it won't be long before they regain first place.

They have a very strong bullpen, a fairly good rotation with a hurt Contreras and an inconsistent Vazquez...whenever Contreras comes back and Vazquez finds himself again, I bet people will be surpised as how well they begin to play again.

  11. With the exception of the AL west every other division race is up for grabs at this point.  There are so many possibilities that can happen and there is no possible way to pick any reasonable scenario at this point.  The best thing we can all do now is just sit back and enjoy the balance of the season and get ready for a lot of surprises.

  12. Tigers won't pass the Twins or White Sox cause they can't stay  more than 3 games over .500 & I think the White Sox have a good chance of beating Boston but the Angels will be tough & I think who ever wins the NL East  will be in the WS(my personal pick)but don't count out the Cardinals & Brewers, your team's division & the Cubs look good too & it's going to be a good chase for the pennant  with every division up for grabs except for the AL West, cause it looks like the Angels may just run away with it  & with so many tight races, it's good for baseball & the fans

  13. Can you name the source of your information? Or are you just making this statement up out of your ****? I think it would be cool if it was, as I think it is what most White Sox and Cubs fans mean. and you're right, there are a few more teams to contend with in the AL that I'm worried about than just the Twins and Tigers.

  14. i don't know bout the White Sox but the Cubs are without a doubt the best team in the NL

  15. Often times, it's wishful thinking. When people are fans of a particular team, they naturally want to think that their team is going to succeed.

The White Sox are 7-12 against the American League eastern division. Trying to beat Boston would be a tough task.

Also, Tampa is 27-19 aganst the A.L. east.  And Boston is 15-5 against the A.L. central.

As for Anaheim, they have been beating everyone.

Last year, we thought our Indians were going to put the Red Sox away, but look what happened. Just another Red Sox comeback.

Only one team is going to represent the A.L. in the World Series, and most likely it's going to be either Boston or Anaheim.

  16. Well, the White Sox are going to have a tough time holding the Twins off. First off, the Twins pitching staff is much better than the Sox (Contreras is injured). The Sox are very streaky hitters and they don't have guys like Mauer and Morneau anchoring their line-up. Both of them are in the race for a batting title. Plus, when the Twins finally call up Liriano, they are going to have an ace that will be tough for teams to beat. Nobody has seen him in great form for two years. As for the world series, I think it will be the Angels vs. Brewers. The Angels are hands down the best team in baseball, and the Brewers have the best 1-2 starting tandem in the league.

  17. Of course a lot of White Sox fans think it will be a Cubs/White Sox WS. Just like a lot of Yankees fans think it will be a (someone)/Yankees WS and a lot of Angels fans think it will be a (someone)/Angels WS and a lot of Red Sox fans think it will be a (someone)/Red Sox WS...

To get into playoffs, a team has to play great ball down the stretch. They've got to worry about putting themselves in a position to get in.

The team who wins in the playoffs tends to be the hottest team going into October, but the team who wins the WS tends to be the best of the hottest. Remember the Rockies last year? They cruised in and surprised everyone. Keep in mind that they did lose the WS, however. They couldn't beat a stronger team.

The Twins can keep themselves in the picture and the White Sox will tread water. Don't hold your breath on the Tigers. They won't make a serious run.
