Here is the thing. I am writing a fantasy story (something like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Covenant, etc etc). I have made the basic plot but I am having trouble with finding/creating magical objects. Say what you wanna say but thats a huge part of these kind of stories. In Harry Potter you have things such as the sorcorer's stone ,invisibility cloak, Tom Riddle's diary, flying brooms, horoxruxes. In Lord of the Rings you have the Ring of power, Gandalf's stick, etc etc...

So if you know any cool object or amulet, talisman, book that you read of or made up yourself...please hit me up!

Thanx

  1. How about a very special baby boy named Kilian. His mother saved his Baptismal candle and they only lit it on very special occasions and when they did ...they [the family] would all make a wish but the scary part was that all the wishes came true...good or bad....only the boy who was later to be named Prince Kilian could make things right....to be continued by a real writer not just a mom.

  2. Look at the mythologies -there are full of items you coud adopt or adapt.

    www.sacred-texts.com is a good source.

One of  the best books I ever read -and sadly I cannot remember the title - was about trapping and controling demons through the use of rings.  The sorcerer had to create the ring himself and the story was so detailed,  it was clear the writer was a jeweler himself.

    Things like that are good.

Or you could go for the truly bizarre - common kitchen utensils as magical tools!

  3. D&D source books quite litteraly hundreds of magical items
