  1. Tantalos. He was a friend of the gods and he often invited them for meals. Once he cut his son(Pelops) into pieces, cooked him and offered him to the gods. Only Demeter didn't realise that she was offered human meat (Hades had kidnapped her daughter Persephone and she was too sad), and ate Pelops' shoulder. Zeus got very angry and punished Tantalos in the above mentioned way. The gods resurrected Pelops and an ivory-shoulder was made for him. Pelops was the one who gave his name to Peloponnese(=Pelops' island). His grandsons were Agamemnon and Menelaos (see Trojan war) and their bad fate was thought to be a result of their great-grandfather's "sin".

  2. That was Tantalus, whose name gives us tantalize, to tease, and the expression the tortures of Tantalus comes from this inability to eat or drink when he had plenty surrounding him.

  3. His name was Tantalus. Is that what you were looking for?

  4. The man your thinking of is a man sealed in Tartarus for feeding his son to the gods at a banquet. I forget his name but you should be able to find it on any mythology site worth it's salt.

  5. Please give more detail to your question, explain a bit more and I'm sure some others would be happy to lend an ear, or typing hands :)
