Im 14 and I'm looking for a martial art out there that is more suited for me.

Im an Asian from Hong Kong who lives in Brisbane and I am 172cm tall and 60kg even though im very short compared to the other students in my class. I use to to Tae kwon do a year ago and im still pretty flexable(i can still do the splits) and I'm probably looking for something different. The people who I would fight are people who are half a head to a head taller than me. When I fight, I like to use kicks because i find my legs a lot stronger than my arms. So I'm looking for a martial art that uses kicks often and high kick and probably some complex kicks like hook kick (which i can do) and tornado kicks.

please advise me on my descision

  1. try kick boxing, muay thai (is an awesome sport), kung fu, savate, capoeira (is very cool not very combative almost more of a dance)

  2. savat or muy thai

  3. as far as i can tell the main kicking arts art TKD, capoeira, and savate

each has its own advantages and will teach you its own unique stuff id imagine, but i can only vouch for capoeira since thats the only one i do

we do a lot of stuff in capoeira that you won't see anywhere else, and yes capoeira can be used to fight contrary to popular belief.

    here is an example

if you can try it out, you will learn stuff in capoeira that you wont learn anywhere else, we have a lot of kicks, some unique to capoeira and some not, so if ur interested in kicks it may be for you

  4. a shaolin based kung fu. like shaolin 5 animals uses kicks and arms but when you free fight its more kicking

  5. karate is pretty effective with kicking.

  6. Northern Shaolin, Tae Kwon Do (known for its kicking) and Muay Thai.

  7. i would suggest muay thai and being in brisbane there are many great muay thai gyms as this is where majority of australias best fighters train out of

  8. If you like the kicking aspect then maybe you should consider going back to TKD. Just food for thought. You may also consider Tang Soo Do or Hapkido since they use the kicks you just mentioned. There is also So Bak Do, Hwa Rang Do are also heavy kicking arts. Each has their differences over all but the kicking is very good. Just choose your instructors carefully.

  9. Capoeira, Muay Thai, and Savate are the only ones i know of besides Taekwondo.

  10. Stick with Taekwondo. There isin't a better kicking martial art.
