A massive prize money of $100,000 for the winner of Exergy Tour 2012
The Organisers of the 2012 Exergy Tour are taking all the necessary measures to ensure that the race meets the highest standards.
The event is scheduled from May 24-28, and the winner will be rewarded with a huge prize money of $100,000.
Steven Johnson, the CEO of the USA Cycling President, is thankful to the event’s sponsors for extending their support.
Top American Women will be seen in action at the inaugural event of the race and the prize purse will definitely be a big motivation for the whole peloton.
"Thanks to the support of Exergy we now have, for the first time in many years, a world-class, UCI women's stage race in the U.S," Steven noted.
"This event will provide our top American women, who are among the best in the world, with the opportunity to showcase their talent and race on home soil," he concluded.
A total number of 17 best women teams are planning to participate at the race. Top cyclists from across the world will find form at the Exergy Tour.
The race is scheduled in Idaho and is an ideal opportunity for the riders to fill their bags with some useful UCI points. The race will also help the cyclists to warm up ahead of the May 31st Olympic qualifications.
Exergy Development Group, a strong independent energy developer in the USA is the main sponsor behind the race.
The company’s CEO, James Carkulis, believes that big prize money will help in promoting the women’s race.
James voiced, "Offering a significant payout for this race elevates the excitement to a level equal in stature to men's pro cycling".
"Our hope is for the Exergy Tour to bring opportunities for both marketing and the media to open up more possibilities for women's cycling in the USA and abroad," he stated.
Organisers have finalised the first 11 teams for the event which include, Team ABUS-Nutrixxion, Team Canadian National Team, Team Exergy Twenty12, Team Faren Honda and Team Forno D'Asolo Colavita.
Team GreenEdge-AIS, Team Specialized-lululemon, Team TIBCO to the Top, Team Topsport Vlaanderen-Ridley along with two US elite sides, Team NOW and Team Novartis for MS and Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies.
