A math or science activity for preschoolers based on "Mice Squeak, We Speak"?

I have to do a days worth of activiteis based on this book. There are ten centers. I need ideas for math and science, outdoor, dramatic play, music and movement and SNACK.

I had an idea for outside- instead of duck, duck, goose it would be called mice, mice, squeak. At the beginning of each turn the teacher holds up a picture of an animal that was in the book. The one that's up (apping heads) says that animal instead of duck. Then they say the sound that the animal makes for goose. Ex. cat-thay would tap and say cat, cat, then purr. Make sense? If so, what's the best way to right it do it sounds better? THANKS

  1. For math, you could get toy mice or toy pieces of cheese and let them add and subtract or practice counting. For science, bring in a live mouse. For art, paint spaghetti shells into mice using gray and black paint. When it dries, let each child take their "mouse" to your writing table and let them tell you a story about their mouse. Write down their story, and hang it on the wall. For dramatic play, bring in toy mice and other things associated with mice. For language arts, bring in a variety of books (fiction and nonfiction) about mice.

During circle times, you could talk about the parts of a mouse, different breeds of mice, what they eat, how they communicate, how they live, where they live, etc. Make graphs and charts with the children's responses. Google some songs and fingerplays about mice.

For outdoor play, play a game of tag where whoever is "it" is a cat and has to wear cat ears. They chase the "mice" around the playground. Hope those are some good ideas for you!
