Some modeling angency just phone me from Dynamic models or something from london.

And they said they have looked at my photo's and said they are very interested in me. And asked if i had a portfolio. I said no, they said well its going to cost me anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds. They said they find the jobs for me.

Correct me if i'm wrong but if a modeling agency were REALLY interested in me, wouldn't they offer to pay for my portfolio to get done etc?

She asked me to phone her tomorrow around 3ish

but she also called me a time waister because if i was serious about modeling i would be more then happy to go get a portfolio done.

What should i do?

  1. Your hunch is correct.

1 - A real agency would see you as a potential investment and wouldn't blink at spending a couple hundred pounds to get an in-house photographer to take some pics.

2 - Anyone who peer pressures you by saying you're a "time waster" is playing mind games a real agency wouldn't stand for.

3 - If you're under 18, they would also be interested in talking to your parcategorisedyou'd technically be catagorised as a youth worker.

4 - How did they see you?  Did you sign up online, or did a woman approach you in a shopping center?  If they haven't even seen you, this is obviously a scam.

  2. hmmmmm, send ur photos off to a different agency, it sounds a bit weird and dodgy, !>..x

  3. airfix?

Seriously, no they wouldn't you are one of thousands of pretty girls who want to become a model, you are not exceptionally stunning.  They would expect you to provide your own portfolio, go to a photographer with a good reputation and don't do anything you are not comfortable with and get one made up asap.

  4. she sounds a bit pushy, calling u a time wasiter was probably to get you to agree to it!

you could probably get a portfoli done cheaper else were and then take t back to the agency for them to get u the jobs

  5. sounds dodgy to me too!

  6. I am sorry but it is up to you to provide a portfolio.I would be more suspicious of the Agency if their first inclination was to ask you to be available to compile a portfolio.Go to a reputable photographer and get a portfolio.Good Luck.

  7. most models have a portfolio done

however if they want you in their agency then they would contribute towards a portfolio so you can get jobs.

lot of agencies out there chat c**p e.g. diesel models are con artists

be careful and look at there reputation

  8. The person on the other end of the phone was a vacuous airhead who works for a company that makes money out of other people's insecurity. Give them the finger and continue on your agency search

  9. if you know what it takes to be a model, have a portfolio made for sure,if they dont give you anywork keep the portfolio,if the portfolio sucks and is poor quality sue them

  10. Get the portfolio, Im sure they do not all cost £200-300. It could earn you some decent money in the long run

  11. It's a scam. No reputable model agency would ask for money up front in this way, they are more likely to stop you in the street, hand you their card and invite you to think about it then call them if you're interested in signing up with them. This happened to a cousin, but she didn't follow it up as she wwas more interested in her studies.

PS did you send them photos?

  12. i don't no much about this but i have seen a few things on telly about this and models always have a portfolio to show the agencies what they are like why would they pay for you when theres thousands of girls out there that want to do this type of thing they could pay for it then find out your no good then they wasted their money and they probably cant afford to do it they are a business after all and i agree if your serious then you should have one

  13. Look the agency up, see what other people say about it.

Normally they look through your portfolio before choosing to take you on or not, so they may not pay for one if they're not 100% sure they want you. You could probs get one done for cheaper if you really wanted one doing.

If she's insulting you that may be an indicator you shouldn't get into business with her.

  14. I have come across this before in my policing career although not illegal as you pay them money and agree to the portfilo most dont bother to really struggle that hard to get work for you afterwards, they may not have there fingers in the right pies and you end up wasting 200-300 pounds.

Seek out a well known agency yourself with a good industry reputation, that is where the talent scouts will be going to find new models.

  15. DO not return the call. I smell wickedry and demonisism in this question.

  16. your right there was a question on here a while ago and they had charged them and then no contact so they were out of pocket by 300pounds

  17. It's sounds a bit like a money scam if you ask me.

You need to do some research...

Are their studios nearby? If you can, go there and ask to speak to the manager.

Call them or look at their website.
