Question:

A monetary Dilemma?

So after waiting four months and not thinking texas would ever get done reviewing my application; my Emt certification has arrived.

Here's the problem-

Do I work for the local 911 service (yay!) for marginal pay, or go run dialisis transfers (boooooooooriiiiiiing) for about 6 dollars and hour more; and then volunteer to get my 911 experience?

Any input from Emt's/ Paramedics is highly appreciated.

Also, I've got no idea where to put this question.

  1. I live in Florida, most of the EMTs and Paramedics I know work a full time job and also take on part time work. Could you do both, work full time for one and part time for the other or even work part time for both?

Which one offers the best benefits and opportunity for advancement? Will either help you take Paramedic training?

Keep in mind that transfers are not always boring and that the emergency medical services job will likely have long periods of boredom too. Is the EMS in your area third-service only, or are there any EMS jobs with the Fire Department. If your fire service uses EMTs and Paramedics you could consider going through Fire Standards and working for FD, which may pay decent wages.
