A mother's rant!?

Hello all mummies - hope you're all having a fabulous day!

I have just got back from shopping, and had to have a little vent about those tiny things that annoy me as someone who now has a child!

When you're in a coffee shop, and it's not peak lunch time, why are people in suits forever evil-eyeing you when your baby makes even the tiniest noise? Theyre in a suit, clearly they work somewhere and probably have an office - have the meeting there, and order the coffee in!

Also, it would be much easier to fit my son's pushchair into the lift that is specifically for pushchairs and those with walking difficulties if it wasn't filled with people clutching Burger King bags who just can't be bothered to use the escalator cos it's not moving!!!!!

There! I feel so much better!

What are all your pet peeves now that you have little people to look after?

  1. I could say the same  when i see parents pushing a pram down a road and expect me to jump out of the way everytime, or i am on a bus and have to move because some mums just want to get on no matter what, or how many or indeed how much room there is. See we can all do it, just sometimes its how we treat others thats what matters.

sometime people who use lifts aren't necessarily able bodied, and maybe they just don;t look frail. Do you give the same accord to the elderly who more often or not get a rough ride one one or another.

Mrs Robinson, those spaces are actually reserved for wheel chair users by the way and prams are only on at the discretion of the driver. And i am fed up with 5 prams on buses which is a fire hazard for everyone. Two is sufficient, but most mums seem to think its their right to get on no matter how many people on the bus. As i said its up to all of us to use some common sense.

  2. oh im with you on the lift rant!

i hate it when you get to the lift, and its full of able bodied people who are too lazy to use the stairs! and then you have to wait ggrrrr!

if i could, i would use the stairs - i just want to get where im going not stand there waiting for a lift.

AND CAN I POINT OUT TO PEOPLE that the question was

"What are all your pet peeves now that you have little people to look after?"

    and NOT

"shall we have a debate on Parents with pushchairs V Childless people"

    x

  3. i think its annoying when you get on a bus with a pushchair and its raining your clearly stressed and no one will move or the bus moves off before your ready. i don't have that problem now as my kids are 4 and 5 but i always make a point of moving when i see someone with a pushchair get on and i let them out as well. some ppl are so selfish. it is so easy for ppl like that to move i hope they meet inconsiderate ppl like themselves when they have children

    *cough cough* teddy!

    EDIT

actually teddy you are only allowed two on at a time whichever bus driver you are referring too is braking the law take it up with their managers. as for wheel chair users yes they have priority i was not disputing that fact if you don't like public transport and the way it operates don't use it!

  4. Just the other day I was at a store with my mom & sister.  I have a 16 month old and she has a 10 month old.  She is about 3 months pregnant so she bought a double stroller (one kid on front of the other, really long).  Well, we have been using it for our 2 little ones, they love it.  My son was super tired and having a hard time falling a sleep, so my mom and I were taking turns pushing the stroller all over the store.  These strollers are pretty big, so I was super peeved when we were all on one side of the aisle and people come walking through like it's the only way to get by.  All they have to do it take 2 steps to the right and go down on the other side.  Why must I move this gigantic stroller with a cranky baby in it cause you MUST pass right next to me?!?!?

    Yeah, I was pretty miffed!

  5. My pet peeve is when the children i work with just run around screaming thwacking people with the cushions ... and when they dont stop no matter how you ask... even dragging in the parents doesnt work sometimes

as soon as i shout im called a bad person ¬¬

or when one of them cries they are yanked away and i never see  them again ¬¬

  6. I just had a baby 6 wks ago and I hate it when I go to a store and they ask me if it's a boy or girl. My car seat/stroller is pink for pete's sake! Also I hate it when complete strangers to try give me advice. When I was pregnant I hated when people came up to me and touched my belly.

  7. I dont have kids of my own but all my friends do and the restrictions it puts on them is unreal. We cant go whereever we want anymore without carefull planning. It's a good job i'd rather spend time with the kids than the parents!! haha

  8. I really hate it when your in a FAMILY restraurant and poeple without kids come in and then except your to be little darlings.  We went to a place last night and There was our Family and another family beside us with a dad and 2 sons.  Well our kids was talking back and forth and laughing well we ate.  There was a young couple across from us, they kept giving us the evil eye.  I thought you should have sat on the other side if you didnt want kids around.

  9. - people who park in mother and baby places without children

    - aisles in shops that you can't wheel even a small buggy around

    - the dinosaur museum we went to at the weekend that was all stairs!!!

    - no changing facilities

    - garden centres/ stores without child seat trolleys

    - dog poo where children play (this really annoys me! and I have dogs!)

and the ones you mentioned! esp disapproving looks when my little boy makes the smallest noise or protest! Thanks for giving me a good rant too!

  10. Please remember that just because someone LOOKS able bodied, doesn't mean they are.  I have young friends who have cancer and look fine (no hair loss), but they are very sick.  Also, it's hard to tell if someone has severe back problems/heart problems just by looking.
