a mother who gave birth to a baby with deformed legs and arms wanted to kill it but her ideas were blocked.she was told she would be charged with murder if she did.

She has revealed that she wanted to kill it because she never expected it.she says she did not deserve it,people would fear her.How sad

what would be your take on this?

That is terrible, yes, no one expect to have a deformed or abnormal child, but it's not the childs fault...I am surprised it did not come to light during the pregnancy...if the mother feels so bad about this child she should at least have the decency to seek help, put the child in some sort of care home or adoption process...there are thousands of ppl out there who can't have children, and would do anything to have one, even if it meant adopting a child with abnormalities.....at least if the mother done one of the above, the child would have some sort of life with someone who actually cares for her/him and gives them the love and attention they deserve...they're still human beings.

Why would a woman want to kill their child, regardless of mental or physical deformities?!

I think any woman who admits to wanting to kill their child needs some serious mental help, and fast, and the child needs to be in a secure, safe home, which isn't with that mother.

Why didn't an ultrasound show these deformities anyways? It should have been apparent, if they are as bad as you say, and she would have known long before the baby was born.

I think when babies are born like that, its extreemly unfair and they shouldnt have to go through life being stared at! its not a nice world to be different in because we are all so judgmental! i can see her point...............

however! it is murder, and we do not have the right to take away anyones life! so it would be wrong, and the baby has a right to live, deformed or not deformed!

of course she would have been charged with murder, she'd actually be killing a human child.

She could have given it up for adoption, or kept her legs closed in the first place.

It's pathetic. "I want a picture perfect child, so if I don't get one I'll kill it." That's the impression I get from that story. My wife and I have been trying for 7 years to have a child and we would be very happy with whatever fate gives us for a child. Does life have no meaning anymore?

Maybe there are some people out there who would like to kill HER for being stupid.  Where do you draw the line? What if the baby was born with red hair instead of black? Would that be acceptable to kill? It wasn't the baby's fault that he/she was born with those deformities. I'm not saying that I am for or against abortion but once the baby is born it is considered a life in the eyes of the law. You can't just kill it. h**l, if that was the case I would kill just about every one who pisses me off on a daily basis.

That is horrible.  No one expects to have a deformed baby but regardless its still her baby and even though its not perfect she should still love it!!

Everyone born into this world is here for a reason.  Now, some cultures may feel that this child is 'possessed' in some way, because of it's deformity, along with thinking the mother may be 'possessed' for having given birth to such a child.

Genetics or lack of fetal care is probably the answer to why the child was born that way.  

It is sad when a mother wants to murder her own child.  Again, every child, whether perfect in one's eyes or not, is born for a reason.  There are people who can't have kids who would love the opportunity to have a child, even handicapped.

No one is perfect.  Besides the love between mother and child should be unconditional.  Clearly, she is afraid that she's done something wrong to receive a child like this and she wants it gone--And she's afraid how others will see her.  She should put those thoughts aside and care for her child.

You know animals eat their young when they are deformed, I think its a survival mechanism because the young wouldn't be able to survive on their own anyways. Not sure why humans think they are special.

Maybe she should put it up for adoption? There are some really desperate people out there who want a kid so bad they will love anything.
