  1. First off broken collar bones are common in motocross. Secondly always dress for the crash. Your helmet doesn;t always get used "aka crash" but you wear it anyway...just in case. So my opinion is the mor protction you wear the more prepared you are when **** hapens.Face it , it isn't a matter of if you crash but when.

  2. i love the leatt brace. i wouldn't ride with out it. i ride at a high level an i believe that that it has saved my neck on a few occasions. depends on which chest pate. i have the thor sentinel chest plate. an with the carbon fiber leatt it fits great with minor adjustments to the chest plate.

  3. right now he leatt braces are the newest protection out there for the racers.

compared to other braces the leatt flips at the ends which makes it harder for the helmet to move when you crash or something.

if your just looking into it for trailing get a regular brace.

but if your gunna race fast get the leatt. i know a lot of guys that said the leatt saved their lives.

  4. im not sure about them ive got one but i dont like it . people keep saying its saved them from a brocken neck but people rarely break there neck so it couldnt of saved that many people . it must offer some kind of protection but i think its a confidence thing more than anything. before they came out no one worried or thought about it  but now there out they do so i think alot of it is in the head

  5. the only thing I heard (not confirmed) is that a guy suffered a broken vertebra in the thorasic area of his spine.. I can see how this might happen since the brace gets some of its support from there due to its design,,,over all I think that they are saving alot of injuries....

  6. The leatt neck brace has its good points and bad points....

ys it will protect your neck in the event of a crash and stuff, but I have heard that in a crash, it could break collarbones as well, but I would rather have a broken collarbone than a broken neck....

I guess that the brace in a crash will hold the neck in place, but where the brace rests on the collarbone area, is where the breaks happen.....

the leatt does fit with a modern chest protector, with little modification....

  7. its saved my *** many times

    totally worth it i swear

and it fits most chest protecters

it might b alot but its not as much as a broken neck...

  8. ive heard that it can also choke people somehow if they fall wrong. just my .02

  9. look at their ad.

    It's a household name

  10. My sons have been wearing the Leatt Brace for the past year and my youngest races at a high level doing motocross and supercross.  I believe the brace has saved my sons neck on a number of occasions over the past year.

The do feel different for the rider and take a small amount of getting used to.  You also have more likely hood of being knocked out or getting a small concussion as what the brace does is stop your neck from bending and this is what usually absorbs the impact on a fall.  But with the brace on your neck doesn't bend so the impact can be more on your head as your head comes to a standstill a lot quicker.  But a concussion or being put out of a race as you are knocked out sure beats having a broken neck.

My sons both wear different chest guards and the brace fits fine with both.   My boys are not allowed to race without the brace on and this is especially the case when my youngest does supercross

It is also true as SWT says that a number of people have broken collarbones and have stated that the brace has added to this but then collarbone breaks are an injury that does happen a lot when racing anyway, so whether the incidents of it happening with the brace is more likely or not is yet to be confirmed

There is also a lot of talk going around the pits that the better Leatt Brace (the carbon fibre one) may have a few problems as the back lip collars on them are fracturing over time without a heavy impact to the brace.  This seems to only be a problem with the carbon fibre model and not the clubman.
