I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks and I need something to reduce pms and pre menstral migraines.

Any advice? I'm currently taking evening primrose oil.

Thanks.

  1. You can't really stop PMS, all woman have it. Advil or Tylenol REALLY helps out. Also, chocolate makes you feel better, and makes you happy too. So, have fun on vacation thats PMS care free!

  2. I have been told to eat chocolate, not a lot but like a few hershy kisses or a candy bar... Chocolate is supposed to help with pms and cramps... No joke, I eat it everytime I get my period.

Oh and for a migraine, you or someone who is with you should put a lot of pressure on the skin between your thumb and forefinger...  and move it in circles while they put pressure on it for 30 seconds to 1 minute, it really helps, and if it doesn't, have them do it again, by the second time the pain will be gone.  This works miracles for my migraines.

  3. Pl check these posts for Pms.

  4. Well, the most popular natural products for hormone support would be Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Vitex (also called Chasteberry), Wild Yam, Damiana Leaf, Motherwort, GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, commonly in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil), and some Soy germ products.

We have thousands of customers that get a lot of benefits from these among others for various "monthly issues" including PMS.

As far as the migraines, these may help if they are caused by the hormonal fluctuations... but if they are from other stressors, you could try some brain health products like Vinpocetine, Ginkgo Biloba, or Huperzine A. Good luck!

[edit]:  As far as the references to chocolate... that won't help the migraines, and it would only possibly calm you down at the best. It might actually make PMS worse because of the caffeine, too.

Chocolate helps to produce Serotonin, which is the hormone involved in regulating the sleeping and waking cycles, not to mention mood support (which is why people have a better mood when they eat it). Chocolate will help PMS like Tylenol helps a migraine... sometimes it's enough, but it won't cover all of it.

  5. Try this...

  6. Watch the chocolate - for me it's a migraine trigger, if I eat more than a tiny bit I get a migraine, the same with cheese & wine.

  7. Diet plays a key factor in pms. Anything containing caffeine (including chocolate) and sugar can seriously upset the hormones in your body, causing mild to severe pms. Reduce your intake of refined foods(white sugar, white flour, white rice), caffeine, alcohol and keep hydrated. Most of these foods are also migraine triggers. That being said, chocolate, in it's true form (cocoa beans) is great for you. What we buy in the store is refined garbage with virtually all the benefits of the cocoa bean having been removed and replaced with sugar, milk and other additives.  The higher the cocoa content the better, but most of the cocoa that is used is extracted from the cocoa bean using a chemical process, which kind of out weighs processed chocolates benefits.

I used to suffer from both migraines and pms. I don't anymore due to dietary changes. I also take vitex to regulate my hormones.

  8. My PMS symptoms have significantly decreased since I started using this product.  No sales pitch here...I don't sell it.  All I know is that this has been one great side effect that I wasn't anticipating.  I was simply looking for something to slow down the aging process and decrease my cancer risk. I sometimes feel like I hit the mother load!  Here is where I purchase it from-good luck!

  9. I would intake some form of caffine in a small dose.  Then make sure to drink a lot of fluids.  Most times PMS is caused by excess water retention so if you drink more, you will flush more out.

Also take a small nap here and there when you have time...or if you have time.  This will allow you to recharge your batteries and be ready to be up and going in no time.

  10. chocolate...works

So does heat take a hot or Luke-warm bath stay in for a while or get a heating pad and put it on your stomach.

  11. I do not know about migranes, but if cramps are a problem, heat is the fastest remedy.  I did not have luck with heating pads, but I use one of those rubber hot water bottles or ice bag filled with hot water.  The heat relaxes the muscle so it doesn't cramp.

  12. There are 2 types of migraine--the kind that is triggered by caffeine, and the kind that needs a bit of caffeine to decrease the pain.

Make sure you take some iron for a couple of days before the PMS strikes. Take some vit C at the same time to increase your body's absorption.

I find that half a beer relieves the heavy, crampy feeling.

  13. hello!

there are some fabulous reflexology points to help alleviate cramping from PMS. The points correspond to the reflexology points for the uterus and ovaries. On one of your feet, on the inside of the ankle, find the big ankle bone. Put one finger on it. Then with the same hand, put another finger on your heel. Guestimate about 1/2 way between these two points to find a small indent or divet you should be able to feel. While your finger is on that indented point, keep your finger in one place and rotate your hand, not the finger. Do the same thing to the outside of your foot, and again repeat both of those points on the other foot. The points that are the most tender are the points that require the most attention. Essentially, by spending 5 minutes doing this, give it 15-20 minutes and the cramping/pain is usually gone! :) Also, the tip that pinkfanatic gave about the headache point on the hand is a good one...although if you have a headache only on one side, use the hand opposite to the side the headache is on. Hope that helps, and is not too confusing!
