  1. I agree with the get EVERYTHING promised to you in writing, signed, notarized, witnessed, etc. Don't get talked into a decision, check out all the different branches of the military, you have options.

I believe going into a ROTC program and going to college then into military is a better option, that's what my daughter is doing.

  2. Well, ask him about your GI Bill, that's important for your future education.

duty times now are from 3-6 years and then guard duty (if elected).

if youre interested in joining the navy then I say go for it, why not? If you decide to make it your life then when you retire you can get a fat paycheck and government benefits, which you cant beat.

  3. Ask him how much youll get paid.  That ought to change your mind.

  4. Here is a link to 10 points to consider

    Good luck :D

  5. well it might help if you know how to spell navy first

  6. I would sit down and start writing any question you can think of down and have it ready when he shows up. I would be asking what you will receive in education, where could you be stationed, what happens if you get married, how much leave will you get, if you go oversea how long would you stay, what is the pay, can you have a car, how long to be promoted, etc.....

    good luck

  7. Dont do it man. You get paid beans and then you dont have much time for school. Dont do it if your are smart. If you are not to bright then go for it it might even help. I went in for the college money only to find out that it is a ripoff.

  8. if you really feel the need to join the military ... join the air force... don't become an MP. They are not sent to war and you have a better chance of surviving.

The military use to be better, medical, retirement and all. Not anymore. A lot of unlistedmen are getting paid little and if there is a family some of them are on welfare because money is so tight. You get paid once a month and you have to make that last. Please don't join, it really is not all they make it to be.

  9. MAKE SURE, you get any promises in writing. Otherwise, those guys will tell you whatever they think you want to hear and none of it will happen.

  10. Depending on what you're looking into in a career. Ask him specifically how the Navy will teach you that. Ask him how much money you will get for college and how you will earn it for when you're ready to go. Also if you want to go to college while in the navy where it is you will go if it's somewhere outside the U.S.

Also if you're eventually deployed somewhere for war, aid, or security and what not how that will affect your education if you're in school at the time.

Think of all your questions, write them down and make sure you have them because many times the recruiters will side track you and you can easily forget. This is a serious decision for you which will basically foretell the next few years of your life so be prepared.

  11. If you are in the United States, you will have adventure...in Iraq.

The Navy recruiter is going to tell you anything he can to make it sound exciting and adventurous. He is not going to tell you what it's REALLY like. Otherwise, you'd never join.

The truth is...your butt will sit in Iraq for 15 months, back to the US base for a year or less, then back to Iraq.

My advice...go to college...forget the military.
