A nervous Danny Lee is happy for Manuel Manassero
Manuel Manassero, the young golfer from Italy, broke another record on Sunday. The seventeen year old played the Castello Masters in Spain and attained the honour of being the youngest player to have won an event on the European Tour. The record was previously
held by Danny Lee, who won the Johnnie Walker Classic in 2008 at the age of eighteen.
His earlier win also meant that the young golfer is the youngest member of the European Tour. This is another record that the 17-year old has broken, which had been previously held by Seve Ballesteros. Manassero exact age is 17 years and 188 days and Ballesteros
lost his title with a difference of only 12 days.
Lee won his title when he was exactly 18 years and113 days old. When he was asked about Manassero's victory, New Zealand’s golf star, Lee said that Manassero is a stark representation of what the new generation of golf is all about and demonstrates the basic
qualities of what the young guns should possess.
According to Lee, the golfing fields are filled with young talent and those that are getting recognition are the blessed ones. He said that Manassero breaking his record is a rather good thing and he had been very happy about the Italian’s win.
Lee and Manassero are very good friends and he believes that this is a way in which both of them can compete together. Lee was stating this at the Mission Hills Star Trophy celebrity pro-am tournament. The event will continue from the 28th of October and
will continue till the 31st of October.
