Question:

A new LAWN AM I OVER watering OR NOT ENOUGH?

Planted new tri grass and it came up nice cut it not to low with mover height , then kept watering it 1 hour a night , it flattened out and when I try to brush it upward , its still kinda damp , whats the reason it just doesn't grow straight upward ?

  1. You sure don't need to water it an hour a day!  If the grass is mowable height, then probably 1/2 inch twice a week is all the water it needs.


  2. Your main problem is watering at night.

    Never put your grass to bed wet...never!

    Water only late afternoon to 2 hours before sunset.

    You might have created a breeding ground for fungus.

    Allow it to dry out a bit.

    And treat with a fungicide if needed.

    Oh and as B says...1 hour of watering may be way too much.

  3. It just hasen't had enough time to dry, Grass only needs around 2 inches of water a week, but a new lawn maybe 3-4 inches. Let it sit for a day or two and see what happends. Good luck, (Tips: Cut it at one of the highest settings on your mower, your lawn will be very healthy and will be able to substain drout).
