A new P/S pump on a ford vehicle will usually have a little bit of whining noise right?

I installed a new P/S pump on my taurus, and makes a very very very small whining noise but u can barely here it. is this normal?

  1. yes,, it will go away later,,

    the fastest way to bleed is ,,start car turn steering left and right all the way on both direction then turn off car,,wait 5 minutes then do it again,,until sound get lower,,

    the reason for this is,,if you let the car running after you turn steering  the pump will suck up the air bubbles again,because you didn't give it a chance to go up and burst on the top of the fluid,,,letting it sit for a while will make the bubbles go on top ...  


  2. check and make sure the fluid is full, if they are down at all they start to get noisy.

  3. I'm a ford guy and it always does seem like the ford power steering is louder than other makes.  Also, if you just replaced the pump there is probably a little bit of air still bleeding out of the lines so it may get quieter.  Steer very slowly all the way from one direction to the other a few times when you're parked.  That will help bleed it.  Then check your fluid level again.
