Question

I keep getting a little icon that appears on my taskbar that says:

Internet gateway device

A new device is now available on your network. For more information, click here.

And sometimes it isn't even the: Internet gateway device. It comes up with other names too. And when I'm in My Network Places, I click on the device and nothing happens.

What does this all mean?

It means you have wireless internet and someone else is connecting to your network, otherwise called a network intruder or piggybacker.

I would HIGHLY recommend (before this intruder steals personal information) running a free wireless network security scan:
