  1. 2.5 inch SATA laptop hard drive.

    ive seen:

    160 gb - $67

    250 gb - $85

    320 gb - $115

  2. you need a 2.5" SATA hard drive (it's the standard laptop hard drive), which is a little more expensive than the desktop hard drives because it's smaller

you do have another option of installing a 3.5" desktop hard drive which is cheaper, but you'll need a SATA extension cable to hook one end to the HDD and the other to the PS3 HDD port

    > if you do it this way, the 3.5" HDD will have to remain outside the PS3 because it won't be able to fit in... but you can get a protective cover fot the HDD and it will still be cheaper than getting the laptop HDD

    > some brands you should look for are: Western Digital, Seagate (this is the brand of HDD that is originally in the PS3 so you can't go wrong)

  3. As previously answered by other posters it must be a sata hard drive, it must be 2.5" but what the other people who answered have failed to mention is that sony recomend keeping the speed at 5400rpm due to compatability issues so make sure the one you buy is sata 2.5" 5400rpm
