Im 25, ive been a veggie my whole life and have now become vegan.... what i have noticed already is how great i feel already, i feel much more alert and have loads of energy, and i sleep 10x better than before.... i was actually expecting a kind of detox stage where i would have withdrawel symptoms from dairy but it hasnt happened..... i ate fairly healthy before when i was veggie, so im shocked at the difference in my energy levels and how good i feel..... makes me think dairy must actually be quite bad for you? did you feel a dramatic change when turning vegan?

  1. That's fantastic! I'm happy to hear this. Clearly if you have lots of energy, it's your body's way of telling you how healthy you are on the inside!

Dairy products are mucus forming. (They produce mucus in the gut). Dairy is not recommended for anyone with skin problems, as the saturated fat levels are congesting and may worsen acne. My sister eats a lot of cheese, which is not good. If you feel better without dairy then I'm happy for you.

If your diet is healthy and you feel fantastic, then keep up the good work, and never lose your love of fresh fruits & veg.

  2. I didn't notice anything like that when I switched...but I wasn't really big on dairy before either. The closest thing I got to dairy was the whey in most chocolate.

  3. Yes, actually I did too.

I had originally stopped consuming dairy products because I noticed that when I did eat or drink them, I'd have terrible sinus problems. My nose would be so stuffed all the time and I'd always have to carry around kleenex. That and personally I think most of the dairy products here in the USA (where I live) are completely disgusting tasting.  The first thing I noticed when I stopped drinking milk (for example) was that I could actually breath a lot better.

A several years ago I had adopted a vegan diet, but for some reason (I think due to tragic situation which lead me to become very depressed), I had lapsed back into my old eating habits, I had sort of become apathic due to depression. Being in a funk for a while and feeling very lethargic  I started thinking about how good I felt when I was a vegan. I decided to return to that diet and, just as I thought I ended up feeling much healthier and much more energetic.

  4. I'm a vegetarian considering becoming vegan. I'm interested in knowing what the effects are as well, to weigh the costs and benefits of veganism.

  5. well I'm not vegetarian but if I was one I probable can be feeling the same energy you feel.....but to add I just want to congratulate you on your success of being a healthy person living an a healthier life

  6. I've no idea about the answer. Sorry, i was completely distracted by "u know what it izzz!" answer.

That is possible the most incomprehensible and ludicrous answer I've seen this year....and i should know, i've written a few ;-)

but as to your topic, it might be that you have removed some underlying guilt by cutting out dairy, it might not be anything physically different in the food. You might not know it, it might be entirely subconsious.

The only "dairy" I have is eggs ( why do they call eggs dairy, anyone know ? ) and thats because we have chickens at home - i wouldn't touch commercial eggs. i now wonder if the lack of milk products is what makes me feel so active and "light" and full of energy all the time...could be.

  7. Hey! I am not vegan but I just wanted to applaud you on becoming one! I'm veggie and I'm also thinking about becoming Vegan.

Anyways congratz! And gosh that person who answered above about protein and breast cancer is so dumb LOL!
