Soap based on olive oil is hard to find, and expensive when I CAN find it..... Usually at markets etc.

Does anyone have a recipe for making a nice olive oil based soap, and is it reasonably easy to make, or can it reach critical and blow up?

  1. The best thing about Olive Oil soap, is that you can keep the water from your bath or shower and use it for salad dressings.

I have a recipe for Olive Oil soap, but I am reluctant to share it as it could cause a biological disaster, nuclear even.  You could, of course, bypass all the hazards, and try one of those wacky 'new age' shops or a health food shop.

CAUTION:  There other dangers when using Olive Oil soap. Never allow it to get too close to any o*****e, you may never see it again.  If you drop it in the shower, never bend over to pick it up.  Leave it there.

One final warning, after using Olive Oil soap, you will find yourself extremely atttractive to Fruit Bats.

  2. You will find lots of answers if you google homemade soap.  Making soap is quite easy although it is a little scientific, you need to do some research before you start, there are things like safety issues you need to address. Most soap making sites have all the instructions and safety precautions listed and you can buy a book on this subject which is very handy to refer to once in awhile.  I have been making soap for a few years now and find it so much better than commercial soap.  Good luck.

  3. I'm not really sure what olive oil based soap is, but I found a recipe with olive oil in the soap.

    All Vegetable Oil Soap:

    All-Vegetable, No Coconut or Palm

    56 ounces olive oil

    30 ounces vegetable shortening

    9 ounces castor oil

    12 ounces lye crystals

    28 ounces cold water

2 T. salt dissolved in a small amount of hot water and added to lye solution
