Get rid of your Telly subscription, get rid of your mobile phone contract, and finally get rid of the internet and you will save between £70 up to over £100 per month depending on your subcription grade. I've got rid of 2 so far, B.T. internet is next by October saving me around £80 per month allowing me to turn my heating well up to live in comfort wearing t shirts in the house when its freezing outside. Thats what I'm doing, greedy companies like B.T. are not getting much more cash from me as im setting my priorities right. health and heat first.

  1. Wonderful suggestions, except...

I like the internet, as it enables me to write my weekly newsletter and distribute it to far more people than buying stamps. printing and the envelopes would cost. Also think of the time this saves!

I can also check on the progress of my book sales through the internet.

I have just changed from Vodaphone, which used to cost me far too much money, to Virgin, which costs me 75% less.

My real savings came when a local shop was closing down. I managed to buy £2,000 worth of clothes for £200.

Also, missing out on going to the pub for 1 weekend a month saves a whopping £140.

I got rid of my Daimler car last November, and take the bus. It helps that I now have a bus pass, so travel costs a big zero!

If I can think of anything else to save money on, I'll let you know.

  2. For a one off cost of £160 you can get a motorised satellite dish and receiver that picks up 23 satellites. All you sport and films free instead of paying monthly fees to Sky for access to just one satellite.

  3. ok,so u will be nice n cozy warm in ur pants....but BORED in the evening with no one 2 talk 2..................hmmmm id rather stick on an extra layer n have my modern comforts

  4. That sounds like a great idea.  Take your money away from greedy firms like BT and give it all to greedy firms like Npower.  Makes perfect sense.

Hot and bored, cold and overloaded with stuff or somewhere in between.

  5. Actually, depending where you live (I live in PA), they can't turn off your heating utilities during certain months of the year.  My bill specifically states that they can't turn service off between November and April, but that they will turn it off in April if you are still behind on paying them, so........Use your tax return to pay it.  Stay warm AND have fun this Winter!!!!!  WooHooo!!!!

BTW-just kidding about not paying it and having fun, but it is true that my bill says that.

  6. It costs me £19 a month for Sky with broadband plus i am an electrician who knows how to get my electricity free so it will never be cheaper for me.
