A pacer is like a worker and a batsman is like an officer, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kapil-Dev-c70234 – Cricket News Update
The former World Cup winning Indian skipper, Kapil Dev, has highlighted how tough a fast bowler's job is, by comparing him with a worker who has to perform backbreaking tasks for at least six hours continuously. On the other hand, he has compared a batsman
with an officer who stands on his place comfortably and executes his duty honourably.
Dev expressed these views during Sardesai Memorial Lecture in India last evening. He delivered the lectures as a last-hour substitute of an ex-captain of Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237, who pulled out for some political reasons.
Dev was of the view that fast bowing was an arduous chore and only a few youngsters opted for it.
The legend said, “A fast bowler is like a worker who just comes in and bowls six hours while a batsman is like an officer. Everybody wants to be an officer and not worker.”
Referring to the history of Indian cricket, he revealed that that they had been a team of spinners and batsmen since the very outset of the game in the region.
“We were the country of spinners and batsmen, but fast bowling has picked up in the last 15-20 years. We have had some good bowlers in Srinath, Prasad, Zaheer and a few others,” stated the ex-skipper.
Like all other neutral analysts, he also termed overdose of cricket as the cause for the Indian bowlers’ failures against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, opining that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had put a lot of burden on the weak shoulders of the bowlers
and did not give them any rest and relief.
Dev told, “The fast bowlers lack that attitude. We have also burdened them. If you make them play 365 days of cricket, they won’t be able to bowl fast. Also, many of them are spending too much time in the gym.”
The 52-year-old is regarded as the most successful skipper of Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup title back in 1983.
The former pace rock-star played 131 Test and 225 ODI matches from 1978 to 1994.
