Like the title says, a part of my screen is cut off. A chunk of the left side of my screen is cut off and a chunk of the right side is just completely black..

What's going on??

Can someone tell me how to fix this? :(

  1. I think you've just moved the image to the left.  Somewhere on the monitor, often right under the screen on older models, there might be a set of dial switches to move the image around (up, down, left, right, bigger, smaller, ...).  One of them may have gotten moved while dusting.

If there aren't any such switches, someone may be pranking you.  Newer monitors tend to have a single button that puts the screen into configuration mode so you can do the same as the above.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Is it an irregular chunk? If so, I'd guess a cracked LCD. If its a rectangle, I'd guess a video hardware problem.

  3. call the manufacturer

  4. If you're using a desktop, it sounds like the monitor is kaput. If its a laptop, the screen is equally kaput and needs replacing. Or it might be cheaper just to get a new laptop. Doesn't sound like a virus, more of a hardware issue.

  5. make the resolution lower
