Question:

A part-time job... what would you pay?

I'm currently living in Washington (for college) and the minimum wage is around $8 here. I found a job, where I'd pick a 6 year old up from her bus stop and watch her for about 2 hours per day.

How much would you want someone to charge you for this service?

*This family stated that they don't have a very large budget.

Does $4-$6 sound okay, or should I find a different job, which is minimum wage?

  1. I'd say $10... that is still way less than minimum... and they get a babysitter for 2 whole hours.

  2. If you are already staying home, and this child is staying at your house with you, i would say that you could charge that, since you could get other things done as well. Make sure, though, that you are getting enough to pay for the gas to drive to and from the bus stop, and for any food you feed her (after school snacks can get expensive.) Good luck!

  3. You're baby sitting a child for 2 hours a day... I think baby sitters get paid more than that.

It depends on how old you are but if its a very easy job I guess that would be fine.

  4. It all depends on exactly what your duties are.  Are you fixing dinner?  Do they pay your gas?  I say $5 - $10 per hour depending on what's expected.
