A particular AI system...?

I was trying to find some information about a certain type of Artificial Intelligence system..but I don't know what it is called or if it has a name. For example, in sci-fi films a spacecraft or a house or something will have artificial intelligence built in; not only for technical reasons, but also to accompany humans within the structure. Is there a name for these types of systems or am I on my own?

They sense motion - motion sensors. The person is probably wearing a chip (on a badge) which identifies them so the sensors in the room can customise the experience... I don't know the name for it - I think it's just something custom built.
