The France coach is a happy man in town after Les Bleus ended the year on a high with an impressive 2-1 win over Italy last night
Didier Deschamps has heaped praise on his players after they came from behind to clinch a narrow win over Azzurri at Stadio Ennio Tardini, Parma. It was France’s first friendly win under the new coach, and to defeat Italy in front of their own fans has pleased
the coach to great extent.
The 44-year-old tactician was talking to reporters after the match and when asked about his team’s performance, the Frenchman had only good things to say.
Deschamps said that it was another impressive performance from his side and after drawing against Spain last month, the win against the European Championship finalist is indeed impressive and it has showed the world that France are on the right track once
more.
"Last month we drew in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, and now we have beaten the European Championship finalists; that is not nothing.”
Talking about Les Bleus’ performance on the pitch, the former Marseille coach added that players weren’t focused in the first half and Italy took full advantage of that. The hosts were playing with more confidence and aggression and were rewarded for that
with a goal.
“We were very timid in the first 20 minutes, lacking rhythm and aggression and Italy were more mobile and moved better.”
However, after Italy’s goal, Les Bleus started to play well and Deschamps is delighted with his players’ attitude on the pitch. They played with a lot of commitment and showed the desire to win.
“It took the concession of the goal to start playing the way I wanted us to, to go and win the ball further up the pitch.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international added that in the second half, there were a lot of changes from both sides and Italy had few chances to equalise but were denied by the resilient French defence. Les Bleus also missed couple of chances but the coach is pleased
with side’s overall performance.
“The second half was end to end and there were lots of changes. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 could have equalised but we also had two chances to increase our lead.”
