  1. If you're doing the riddle thing of assuming a perfect sphere and a point moving around on it, there are actually an infinite number of places you could start from. One is the north pole and all the others are near the south pole. Besides the one 10/2Pi miles from the pole, you could go a little farther south so your 10 miles east would take you around the pole two or three or a billion times around the pole.

  4. One easy location is the north pole. But there are other places close to the south pole: imagine a latitude line whose circumference is exactly 10 miles. Go 10 miles north of that line and the starting point could be anywhere there.
