the person is carried up in 60s. How much time would it take that person to walk up the moving escalator? Does the answer depend on the length of the escalator?

  1. vm = Person's speed = 15 m / 90 s = 1/6 m/s

    ve = Escalator speed = 15/60 = 1/4 m/s

    Speed when walking on moving escalator

    = 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12 m/s

    Time to cross 15 m

    = 15 divided by 5/12

    = 15 x 12/5

    = 36 s
