A pet for my best friend??

Question

my best friends birthday is coming up, and she loves animals. so i wanted to get her a pet. i want to get her something managble, any ideas?? (no kittens or puppies. too much $!)

a hamster or a fish.  if thats too small and want something for more attention, a rabbit.  But, please make sure she really wants it before you leave it there to just be abandoned or not taken care of.  Good luck.

A hamster would probably make a good pet especially if she is not used to having pets. They are cheap, and low mainteance. It will cost you alot in the beginning as you will have to buy her a cage, food, bedding, water bottle and a little house he can sleep in. You must make sure a pet is what she wants and discuss it with her mother too as you don't want to give her a pet that her mother is going to give away. You have to make sure she will be commited to spending at least one hour a day with her hamster and cleaning it. Maybe you and all your other friends could all chip in money and but the hamster and supplies together.

You would want to check with her parents first, to be sure she can have it. A bird might be a good pet.

Pets are almost never a good gift.

Have you talked to her about it, and her parents? A pet is something that always costs money for the person who owns it, so they NEED to be told about it beforehand. Vet bills and food costs are always going to be there.

If she does know.. it really depends on her and what she likes.. reptiles, birds, small animals? There are a ton of options.. but they'll all need upkeep and attention.
