In my league we can keep our 5th round pick from the previous year. my 5th round pick was Adrian Peterson. Do I keep him or try to work a trade for another 1st round pick plus more or do I keep? I think he will be less productive this year because teams will focus on him since the vikings cant throw the ball

  1. Can you only keep your 5th round pick or any pick up to the 5th round? What does it cost you to keep AP? Another fifth round pick or your first round pick? Who would be available if you were to trade AP? Unless you can guarantee to get two top picks and land somebody like LT or SJAX, I don't see it being worth losing AP. Keep track to see what happens with the Favre situation. If Favre does end up with MIN (granted highly unlikely) AP's value would rise even higher. Even without it, AP is not the sole back and won't be worked to death so he should post solid numbers throughout. Teams will stack the box and that will open up the air game to hopefully keep D's honest with Berrian streaking the field. MIN also has one of the top 3 D's (preseason of course) so they will look to control the clock quite a bit and keep the ball in his hands especially in the redzone.

  2. If you are saying that you can get a second first round pick by trading him, it would most definintely be a good option.  BTW, I don't understand the idea of having a middle-round pick be the "keeper"- it seems very unfair to me that one owner gets to keep a player like AP (who at this time last year was nothing more than potential which means that you got lucky that he broke out) while another owner would be looking at keeping a 2nd or 3rd tier WR/QB/RB.  It makes more sense to me that a keeper league should allow an owner to keep any player on their roster or only their first round pick.

  3. Keep him

he had 2nd most rushing yards

    in only 12 games

    he broke records

i had him on my team i was great and i won the champioship

  4. A fifth rounder is tremendous value.

It couldn't hurt to test the water and see what someone would offer for him.

He has limitless upside, but at the risk of injury.  The Vikings couldn't throw the ball last year either, and at least they added Bernard Berrian.

I share your concern that teams will key on him.  He ended last season with a fizzle.

I would rather have LT or Westbrook personally, but if you can't find a trade partner, a 5th rounder is an incredible deal -- hard to beat.

  5. keep him... with the addition of berrian and that improving defense, he will have atleast 2000 total yards

  6. You keep Peterson.  You made a great move drafting him last year.  You should reap those rewards again this year.  Keeping the arguable #1 pick is always a good move.

  7. Adrian Peterson is the # 2 pick in most fantasy drafts but he has a past of injuries since his senior year in High School. Never the less i would still take the risk and keep him.
