If the earth revolves round the Sun in a circular orbit, then the necessary centripetal force will be provided by?

Options are:

a. weight of the earth

b. acceleration due to gravity

c. gravitational force of attraction between sun and the earth

d. presence of atmosphere around the earth

  1. c. Since der's no wt. of earth in space, acceleration due to gravity is a vague term in regard 2 dis question,& presence of atmosphere around d earth is not a force .

    Yip, it is c

    An object with mass isn't affected unless another object with mass acts on it in the form of gravitational force. For this example the sun and earth are the two objects acting on each other. The magnitude of the force the sun exerts on the earth is the same as which the earth exerts on the sun, but due to the mass of the sun being orders higher than the earth, it does not seem as if the earth affects the movement of the sun.
