for every 10 degree C drop in temperature and halved for every 10 degree C increase in temperature. Determine how long the piece of wood would take to burn at each temperature.

a) 500 degrees C

b) 650 degrees C

  1. a). There is a one hundred degree decrease in temperature. so that means the time is doubled ten times. this is the same as 2^10 = 1024 sec.

    b). There is a fifty degree increase in temperature so the time needs to be halved five times. this is the same as 1 / 2^5 = .03125 sec.
