  1. A pitcher getting 300. Imagine the wear and tear on your arm.

  2. Nice to see you back scooter!

In this day and age, 300 wins

The last pitcher to most likely to get 300 wins is Mussina, and thats a Long shot too, I could see more batters getting 3000 hits in the future

    so, 300 Wins

  3. batter getting 3000 hits

  4. 3000 hits

  5. I would say 3000 hits. Hitting a baseball is really hard, despite how easy some players make it look.

I take wins with a grain of salt. A mediocre pitcher can have a strong offense backing him up and he could get a win. At the same time, a strong pitcher could have an awful offense behind him and end up with five wins in a season.

I don't think wins are the smartest way to judge a pitcher's talent.

  6. well personally scooter, i think in a much larger opinion that a batter getting three thousand hits is a greater achievement because of the psychological advancement in the science and technology. the obvious answer to this question would conclude to the fact the one who can achieve will succeed and believe and HE WILL achieve. the batter of this particular sport can do whatever he desires. k bye.

    sincerely,

    gab and joanna

technology in the science and technology professors

  7. 300 wins

i think it takes a lot of sweat, blood and tears to get to that achievement man.

Maybe i just like pitchers better ;) haha nah just kidding but still pitchers don't complete games all that often.. the bullpen could blow it for them ya know.

No disrespect to the players who reached 3000 hits because that is very admirable too.

  8. They are both huge accomplishments but I'd imagine the 3000 hits feels a bit sweeter to get

  9. I would say the 300 wins. I am not sure if people really follow how many hits a certain batter gets. For example, in comparing pitchers the first stat given is usually "he is 8-7" whatever. 300 win pitchers are pretty much garenteed a ticket to the hall of fame. I cannot say at the moment who has 3,000 hits. A -Rod?

  10. A pitcher getting 300 wins to me. Winning is not a skill you can learn and practice. I know many people say hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do but you can learn and hone your skill here. Winning takes so much variables that it is amazing to do that.

  11. 300 wins for a pitcher. Those guys work harder then anyone on the field over the course of a game...they deserve more respect then they get.

  12. 300 wins - you get a lot more at-bats, and you're not at the mercy of your relievers.

  13. 300 wins

a player getting 3000 hits plays every day

    so he inches closer slowly

a pitcher only goes out there every 5th day....so think about it.....a pitcher would need about 1500 games to get 300 starts assuming he stays healthy.....take away about 60 games for no decisions

so he has 240 decisions.....lets say hes good and about about 150 and 90 (which is REALLY good)

hes still only half way there about 10 years into his career....without any injury

plus with all the preservation of pitchers now a day you can scratch away another about 15-20 wins

    so 130-90

he would need to pitch effectively for about 23 years

  14. 300 wins in today's game is an incredibly difficult task to do.  From wikipedia:

Changes in the game in the last decade of the 20th century have made the 300-game winner an endangered species again, perhaps more so than during the mid 20th century. The four-man starting rotation has given way to a five-man rotation, which gives starting pitchers still fewer chances to pick up wins. The physical and mental demands on starting pitchers have also increased yet again, thanks to the explosion in offense that has taken place since the 1990s. As a result, managers are much quicker to put in relief pitchers than in the past, particularly after the starting pitcher has thrown more than 100 pitches, even when the starting pitcher is winning the game. This increases the likelihood that a pitcher not get a win because of circumstances beyond his control. To put it in perspective, the 2006 season was the first time in a non-strike-shortened season that no pitcher won twenty games.

After Randy Johnson and maybe Mike Mussina win their 300, it will be a long long time until we see another 300 game winner.

  15. To be honest they both are great accomplishments but right now it seems everyone is getting 3,000 hits . I believe after awhile 3,000 hits will not even get you into the Hall of Fame like it use to ! If you remember that hitting 500 hrs use to guarantee you an automatic induction into the HAll but now its meaningless . You have to hit 600hrs to even be considered but hit 600 hrs ,get 3,000 hits and 2,500 RBI'S to be a shoe in . So in my opinion 300 wins means more now than 3,000 hits cause cause the strain that is put on a pitchers arm is serious and a lot of pitchers dont pitch as long as they use to .
