  1. Magic!?

  2. In 1994 Jupiter was hit by Comet Shoemaker/Levy 9 . When the pieces of the comet hit, they were travelling at nearly 130,000 miles per hour. Each piece exploded on impact creating huge earth-sized dark scars in the CLOUDS

  3. It was Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, not Shoemaker-Levy 7, that collided with Jupiter.

The comet fragments collided at high speeds with Jupiter's atmosphere. Debris both from the comet and the disturbed layers of atmosphere through which the comet went through left atmospheric 'dark spots'.

Also, Jupiter may have a rocky core, so it does have a surface of a kind. This is however irrelevant to your query.
